Guiding principles we live by

If you have listened to our podcasts then you are already thinking about the principles that intrinsically guide you through your life. We may see these as 'our conscience', guiding principles or just they way we navigate through our lives to do the best we can. It doesn't really matter how you label them, these 'principles' or 'rules' we place upon ourselves and how we listen/respond to them, are very important to our wellbeing. We tend to feel guilty or bad about ourselves if we do not uphold them, or even beat ourselves up. They tend to align themselves with our values, therefore they are an integral part of who we are and how we respond in life.


The general '7 Cardinal Rules in Life' are as follows:

  1. Make peace with your past so it wont screw up the present.

  2. What others think of you is none of your business.

  3. Time heals almost everything, give it time.

  4. Don't compare yourself to others and don't judge them. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

  5. Stop thinking too much it alright not to know the answers. They will come to you when least expect it.

  6. No one is in charge of your happiness, except you.

  7. Smile. You don't own all the problems in the world.

We have a few more we live by and would like to share:

8. Always try to respond, rather than react to a stressful/uncomfortable situation. We tend to regret things we have reacted to without any measure thought.

9. Speak kindly to yourself and to other people.
